Your role at St John of God****Midland Hospital We are seeking a passionate Speech Pathologist to join our Allied Health Team and work alongside the multi-disciplinary team to provide Paediatric Feeding Speech Pathology services to patients and families using evidence based clinical practice skills.
The Speech Pathologist will be working with neonatal and paediatric feeding in acute and outpatient settings and will ensure practice is in accordance with Professional Standards for Speech Pathology Australia and SJGHC policies and guidelines.
Experience in the assessment and management of Paediatric Feeding Disorders and paediatric dysphagia is an essential skill, with experience working within an acute setting with complex feeding cases desirable. This is a permanent part time position, working 15.2 hours a fortnight.
The Position
- Assess patients with Paediatric Feeding Disorder, paediatric dysphagia.
- Develop individual treatment and therapy programs (with long and short term goals).
- Complete clinical documentation and undertake administrative tasks as required. This may include communication of assessment results and therapy outcomes to the referring party and other parties involved in the patient's management.
- Actively prioritise own caseload including participation in relevant clinical review meetings and case conferences as appropriate.
- Support and liaise with patients, carers, colleagues, medical, nursing, allied health, support staff, external agencies and the private sector, to provide coordinated multidisciplinary care.
- Educate patients/carers in assessment, treatment and post discharge management and organises discharge summaries/referrals to other services, as appropriate.
- Promote professional values and ethics in clinical practice and participate in ongoing evaluation of clinical practice.
- Participate in evidence based clinical research activities where required.
- As relevant, supervise and support Allied Health Assistants and students to deliver effective services as per the Speech Pathology Australia recommendations.
- Attend relevant training sessions offered by SJGHC. Completion of all annual mandatory and unit based competencies as required.
- Accept responsibility for maintaining and strengthening own professional knowledge and expertise. Maintenance of own continuing professional development portfolio as required.
- All other reasonable duties as directed by the relevant Manager/Supervisor
Position Requirements You will hold a tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology and current full membership to Speech Pathology Australia with post graduate training and experience in assessment and management of a range of Paediatric Feeding Disorders and dysphagia. You will have knowledge and skills in assessment, treatment and evaluation within Speech Pathology practice.
To succeed you will have the ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary training team environment, time management and organisational skills and ability to coordinate an assigned case load. Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential.

- Salary: $85,508 to $120,255 pro rata, plus 12% superannuation
