Job Description
A support worker/mentor is someone who provides support to NDIS participants in their own home or out in the community. It can include assisting participants with their personal care or activities of daily living. It can also include supporting our participants to meet their NDIS goals.
All participants will have NDIS goals that are the essence of their funding from the NDIA. Mentors support our participants to achieve, or progress towards achieving these goals.
Main duties and responsibilities:
· Assist participants of the NDIS with activities of daily living (ADL’s) otherwise known as personal care
· Create positive relationships with participants
· Remain engaged with participants throughout the shift
· Assist participants to meet their NDIS goals
· Transport participants to activities/events throughout a shift
· Promote positive engagement between the participant and the public whilst caring for the participant
· Empower participants to live the life that they choose rather than dismissing their requests
· Advocate for every participant of the NDIS, whether they be a participant of Exemplary Care Support Services Pty ltd or another organisation
· Abide by WHS standards and behave in a safe manner whilst with participants to ensure yours and the participants safety
· Act with integrity and always maintain confidentiality of participants
· Behave in a professional manner whenever representing the company
