About the job
Orygen Recovery is a Youth Prevention and Recovery Care service (YPARC), which is a sub-acute, recovery focused short-term residential program, supporting young people by intervening early to prevent deterioration that may lead to inpatient psychiatric care and transition to the community from inpatient psychiatric care.
Reporting to Youth Wellbeing Team Leader you will;
- Support Young People– Provide tailored, recovery-oriented support to young people, families, and carers, helping them achieve their individual goals and transition back into the community.
- Collaborate with a Multidisciplinary Team– Work closely with clinicians, medical staff, lived experience workers, and community services to ensure holistic care and risk management.
- Facilitate Group & Daily Living Activities– Support young people with life skills, social connections, and structured routines through group programs, mentoring, and practical daily tasks.
- Engage with Key Stakeholders– Build and maintain collaborative relationships with health and welfare agencies, ensuring coordinated care and positive community connections.
- Complete Essential Administration– Maintain case notes, collect data, and support service operations through accurate documentation and reporting. **The role works across three shifts per day including a day shift, afternoon/evening shift and an overnight shift (which includes a sleeping period). ** Availability to work sleepover shifts is essential.
Skills and experience
The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:
- Minimum qualifications of Certificate IV in mental health.
- Previous experience working in youth mental health, or extensive experience in mental health and an understanding and experience in a psychosocial model of care.
- Previous working knowledge of the common mental health and substance use issues faced by young people, and evidence-based treatments for major adolescent health issues.
- Ability to assess risk and follow relevant protocols to manage crisis situations calmly and effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with young people showing empathy, compassion, flexibility, and respect.

This is casual role across a rotating roster.
