Job Description
Your role:
Shifts would likely include trips to and from school, in-community and in-home support shifts. Currently, we have a preference for afternoon availability. Weekend work is also available.
A Support Worker works with clients within the out of home care sector, they act as a positive role model in supporting children and young people to engage in pro-social activities and to assist in the development of independent life and living skills.
Some of the general tasks include:
Transporting young people to and from school and/or appointments,
Working with young people to set, develop and work towards their own goals
Supporting caregivers
Creating positive memories for children in care

About you:
Ability to engage well over the phone and in person
Strong communication skills, the ability to listen and take detailed notes
Experience or knowledge of Best Interest Principles as outlined within the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005
A commitment to working with vulnerable children, young people and families who have experienced trauma
We would like our support workers to have knowledge of trauma and trauma-informed care
Qualifications:
Minimum Certificate IV in Community Services or Child, Youth and Family Intervention, Youth Work or similar.
Full Victorian Drivers Licence.
Desirable:
- Diploma in Community Services, Youth Services or similar.
The important stuff
Remuneration- Hourly rate $38.65 plus 25% casual loading plus penalty rates for weekend shifts
SCHADS award level 3
Office location: Dandenong with outreach across the Southern region and sometimes Gippsland
Pool cars available for use. Use of personal vehicles are not permitted.
