Job Description
Lifeline Direct (LLD) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lifeline Australia. LLD focuses on supporting the development and ongoing implementation of suicide prevention and community wellbeing programs in the regions which we operate while looking for opportunities to grow Lifeline’s services in geographical areas where they do not currently exist.
LLD encompasses Lifeline Centres in Hunter region, Central Coast, Eastern Suburbs-Bondi, New England North West, Northern NSW, Geelong and South West Victoria, Northern and Western Melbourne and Central Australia. Our specialised and targeted services operate nationally via a telehealth model.
Do you want to play a key role in supporting the people who support Australia? Lifeline Direct is seeking a Senior Team Leader to provide real-time leadership to our Centralised In-Shift Support (CISS) team. This is a full-time position working primarily overnight (four overnight shifts plus one daytime shift per week).
This is a fully remote role – you’ll be equipped with the tools, training, and support to lead your team effectively from home.
About the Position
The CISS team is at the heart of Lifeline’s operations, providing frontline support to Crisis Supporters (CS) as they assist Help Seekers (HS) in real time. The team plays a crucial role in assessing risk, making rapid decisions, and ensuring the right responses are in place to safeguard those reaching out for help.
As a Senior Team Leader, you will:
· Provide in-shift, real-time support to CISS team members.
· Lead and develop a team of up to 15 staff, with a focus on wellbeing, capability-building, and continuous quality improvement.
· Apply a strong trauma-informed lens to all aspects of practice and leadership.
· Drive performance management and professional development, ensuring high standards of service delivery.
· Support and guide staff through change and evolving service needs, fostering resilience and adaptability.
· Create a collaborative, accountable, and supportive culture where staff feel confident and empowered.
About you
You are a confident and supportive leader who can provide calm, decisive guidance in high-pressure situations. You have the ability to quickly address and resolve issues as they arise, ensuring the smooth running of each shift while maintaining a strong focus on staff wellbeing and service quality. You balance collaboration with autonomy, creating an environment where your team feels supported, capable, and accountable.
You will bring:
· Experience in remote service delivery of allied health services (essential).
· Ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously with confidence.
· Passion for building capability within a team.
· Strong grounding in trauma-informed practice.
· Experience in performance management and driving continuous quality improvement.
· Previous supervisory or leadership experience (CISS or similar preferred).
· High proficiency with digital platforms (Microsoft Office, online meeting/chat tools, data systems).
· Excellent multitasking, time management, and organisational skills.
· Availability to work a 24/7 rotating roster, including weekends and overnight.
· A home office that meets occupational health requirements (private, equipped workspace, reliable high-speed internet, backup phone access).
What we offer
· Generous salary packaging benefits (up to the maximum available for not-for-profits – meaning you pay less tax!).
· A unique leadership opportunity to directly support those who deliver life-saving services.
· The chance to be part of a compassionate, supportive, and future-focused organisation.
Join us in making a difference. If you’re ready to bring your leadership, resilience, and care to a team making an impact every day, we’d love to hear from you.
To apply, please submit your resume and a cover letter outlining how you meet the requirements of the role.
The successful candidate will be required to complete a Working with Children Check and a National Criminal History Check.
