Directly support AMES' strategic priorities of improving long-term independence for multicultural clients and reducing systemic service barriers
Annual salary is $87,354 + 12% super

About the role:
TheMulticultural Liaison Officer(MLO) plays a critical role in enhancing service accessibility and engagement for multicultural individuals living with disabilities and/or needing aged care. This position will undertake community consultation, collaboration with allied health professionals, education and advocacy, representing AMES Australia in this important work to close existing service gaps and ensure service standards for these vulnerable clients are maintained.
To be considered for this role, you will be able to demonstrate the following key selection criteria:
Degree in Health Care, Social Work, Community Development or related field; AND
Minimum 3 years’ experience working in the community services sector, including some leadership experience OR
Diploma in Health Services, Social Work, Community Development or related field; AND
Minimum 5 years’ experience working in the community services sector, including some leadership experience
Demonstrated understanding of multicultural communities, including cultural norms, communication styles, and barriers to service access
Demonstrated knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), My Aged Care, and related support frameworks
Proven ability to build trust and rapport with diverse community groups through outreach, education, and advocacy
Strong commitment to inclusive, respectful, and empowering approaches when working with individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds
Proficiency in one or more community languages and ability to communicate effectively across language barriers
Demonstrated ability to guide clients through complex application processes and connect them with appropriate services and supports
Skilled in working with internal teams, external providers, and community leaders to coordinate care and share insights
Demonstrated ability to deliver cultural awareness sessions and contribute to staff development initiatives
Demonstrated competence in maintaining accurate records, preparing reports, and contributing to program evaluation
Proficiency in using client management systems, Microsoft Office, and digital tools for communication and documentation
It is a mandatory requirement for the position holder to have and maintain a current Working With Children Check (Employee)
