KICS focuses on securing stable and enduring kinship placements for children and young people in the context of their whole family. KICS is a partnership service delivered by Kummara Ltd. & Infinity Community Solutions Ltd.
KICS is a child and young person centered, whole-of-family focused out-of-home care service resting on the foundation practice framework of the Family Partnership Model. The service provides out-of-home care support while maintaining a whole-of-family lens focused on wellbeing, attachment and bonding through case management and the application of family-led decision making principles.
KICS currently have fulltime permanent Kinship and Foster Care Support Workers (Case Worker) positions working in either Ipswich or Toowoomba covering the Southwest Region.
Our Kinship and Foster Care Support Worker (Case Worker) roles are responsible for the overall support and monitoring of kinship and foster care placements focused on meeting the needs of children and young people in statutory care within the Southwest Region. This includes provision of primary and respite placement assessments, regular home visits to support the carer and monitor the Statements of Standards of Care and provide support, afterhours on-call support, negotiating carer placement agreements and formulating Placement Care Plans to guide care provision in line with the Departmental Case Plan.
In line with the five elements of the Child Placement Principle, our program aims to locate and build effective family care arrangements to support reunification or provide better permanency options specifically focusing on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people to reconnect and cared for by Family, connected to Community and Culture.
To be successful in this position, you will:
Hold a completed diploma and/or a 3 or 4 year qualification in Human Services, Child, youth and Family or related discipline. Role is renumerated in line with SCHADs award based on qualifications and experience within the sector.
Demonstrated skills and experience in working with children, families and carers, particularly in assisting with assessment and planning and processes that support the management and provision of care to children with challenging behaviours.
Demonstrated experience in the support and mentoring of children and young people in out of home care.
An understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and societies and the issues which impact upon them in contemporary society together with a commitment to culturally appropriate engagement and practice.
Demonstrated intermediate ability to use computer IT systems including MS Word and Excel.
Queensland Provisional Green or above Driver Licence.
Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) which will be linked to the organisation and any other legislatively required personal history screening, as required.
Evidence of current vaccination against whooping cough or willingness to obtain prior to commencement, unless applicable exemption provided as per the relevant organisational procedures.
