About The Way Back Service The Way Back Support Service was developed by Beyond Blue in 2014. The Way Back is a non-clinical support service focused on providing trauma informed psychosocial support to people who have experienced a suicide attempt or suicidal crisis. Supports are delivered in partnership with Brisbane Youth Service (BYS) and the Institute of Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) in the Brisbane north region. As a non-clinical service, The Way Back views clinical and psychosocial care as complementary rather than alternate approaches.
About the role In order to ensure timely and effective service delivery, the Intake Officer will manage all incoming referrals and inquiries to the service. They will work collaboratively with participants in a trauma-informed, recovery orientated and strengths-based approach to provide information regarding the program, develop a safety plan and identify their psychosocial goals. General administration tasks will also be undertaken, including extensive data management and record-keeping. There's some flexibility around the hours and days of this part time role. Role criteria • Tertiary qualifications in Mental Health or Social Services related fields and/or experience in the community mental health sector • Demonstrated understanding of personal, family and social issues associated with suicidal ideation and attempts, including awareness of groups identified to be at risk of suicide • Demonstrated skills and ability to work effectively with participants, family members and service providers to identify solutions • Excellent communication skills, particularly with individuals and their families/carers who may be experiencing significant distress • Ability to effectively assess, monitor and respond to risk • Solid understanding of recovery principles, strengths based principles and trauma informed support • High level of competency using technology
Core requirements • Blue Card, Yellow Card (or ability to obtain one) is mandatory • National criminal Record check - disclosable outcomes considered • Open Queensland Drivers Licence
