Job Description
This is a role where every day you can ignite hope, create connections, and change lives. As an Engagement Worker, you’ll be an integral part of our frontline Future Homes Team, where you are often the very first friendly face and trusted support for people navigating homelessness, mental health challenges, or personal setbacks.
Every day, you’ll meet people from all walks of life who, for many different reasons, find themselves without a home. Your role is to welcome our clients without judgement, offer support, and walk alongside them as they rebuild their independence, discover passions, and discover their goals.
A day on the job will see you:
Being the go-to, first point of contact for daily queries and support.
Building genuine relationships and inspiring people to discover what’s possible.
Teaming up with Senior Engagement Workers to connect people with the right supports and tackle complex challenges.
Bringing recovery and trauma-informed approaches into everything you do.
Creating a team culture that’s positive, compassionate, and collaborative.
Your application will go to the top of our shortlist you have:
Qualifications in Community Services or similar with hands-on experience in support work with vulnerable persons. Bonus points if you have worked with people who have experienced homelessness and mental health.
A positive, solutions-focused mindset that lifts others up
Knowledge of community services and how to connect with clients with the right supports
A natural talent for building trust, rapport, and meaningful engagement
Understanding of wellness, recovery, and trauma-informed principles
A dash of creativity. You find new ways to problem-solve and make things happen

**Hours:**Two roles available: FT, perm: Wednesday – Sunday 7am-3pm. FT, fixed term (ending 2nd of January 2026): Monday-Tuesday 7am-3pm. Wednesday – Friday 2.30 pm-10.30 pm

About Us
For 60 years, St Bart’s has supported people experiencing homelessness and severe and persistent mental health issues as they rebuild their lives. We started as a small homeless shelter for men and have grown into a progressive and inclusive organisation providing support to hundreds of Western Australian men, women and families across four key service areas. Our goal is to provide safe, supported accommodation and services to people who need it the most, regardless of background, age, gender or ethnicity.
