The Opportunity
This is a varied and rewarding role where you’ll work with clients across the lifespan from children to adolescents, families and adults, delivering tailored therapeutic interventions to support emotional, behavioural, and cognitive wellbeing. We’re particularly interested in team members with a passion for paediatrics or those with experience in community or neurodiverse populations.
Your work may involve individual counselling, family therapy, group work, risk assessments, and the development of care plans in line with NDIS and other frameworks. Sessions may be delivered in clinic, at schools across our partner sites at Essendon North, Epping, Prahran, Caroline Springs, Tarneit and Hoppers Crossing, or via Telehealth, and you’ll be supported by a collaborative and progressive team environment.
**Please note:**Roles are offered initially on a contractor basis, with the potential to transition to part-time or full-time permanent employment as our organisation grows.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing individual and group counselling, play-based therapy or psychotherapy
Delivering paediatric services to children aged 3 and up
Conducting assessments, create treatment plans, and maintain progress reports
Supporting clients through therapeutic interventions for a variety of psychological and developmental needs
Collaborating with educators, health professionals and families
Travelling to clinic, school and community locations as needed
Participating in regular supervision, reflective practice, moderation and team development
Maintaining professional standards aligned with NDIS and Acua’s policies
You will be required to work Saturdays (with Fridays off to support work/life balance)
What we’re looking for!
A qualification in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or related field (Bachelor or Masters)
Membership with ACA, APS, PACFA, AHPRA or equivalent national body
Demonstrated experience in mental health counselling, case management, and paediatric or neurodiverse practice.
Excellent communication, documentation, risk management and assessment skills.
Current Working with Children Check, National Police Check, First Aid & CPR (preferred), NDIS Worker Orientation Module.
Public and Professional Indemnity Insurance (min $20M).
Strong knowledge of counselling principles, neurodiverse frameworks and therapeutic techniques
The ability to communicate with compassion and clarity
Reliable transport and flexibility to work across various Acua locations (e.g. Essendon, Epping, Prahran, Geelong, Ballarat)
A secure computer or mobile device for client data and privacy compliance
