About the role
Canberra Healthcare Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Child Psychologist to join our team in Canberra, ACT on a contract basis. We are a busy multidisciplinary Paediatric practice primarily providing developmental and behavioural Paediatric services.We are based centrally in Deakin, the medical hub of Canberra. As a Child Psychologist, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive psychological assessments and evidence-based interventions to support the mental health and wellbeing of children and adolescents.
What you'll be doing
Conducting comprehensive psychological assessments to identify children and adolescents' mental health needs
Developing and implementing individualised treatment plans to address a range of issues, including behavioural problems, emotional disorders, and neurodevelopmental conditions
Providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as cognitive-behavioural therapy, play therapy, and family therapy
Collaborating with parents, teachers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to the child's care
Maintaining detailed case notes and contributing to the overall clinical documentation
Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings and case conferences
Staying up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in child and adolescent psychology
What we're looking for
Postgraduate qualification in Clinical Psychology or a related field, with a specialisation in child and adolescent psychology
Registered or eligible for registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Must hold General or Clinical Psychology registration with AHPRA (provisional registration considered for exceptional candidates)
Extensive experience in conducting psychological assessments and providing evidence-based interventions for children and adolescents
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in conducting psychological assessments and providing evidence-based interventions for children and adolescents
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Excellent clinical reasoning and problem-solving abilities to tailor interventions to individual client needs
Demonstrated understanding of relevant ethical and professional standards in the field of child and adolescent psychology
Eligibility to work in Australia (Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work visa)
Proficiency with standardised assessment tools such as ADOS-2,ADIR, Conners ADHD rating scales,WISC-V, CBCL, SDQ, or similar child psychology instruments
Ability to obtain and maintain a Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) check and National Police Check
