Caseworker and Territories Stolen Generations Redress Support Officer - Cairns
Link-Up (Qld) Aboriginal Corporation supports the healing journeys of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who have been separated from their families and communities through forced removal, adoption, fostering or institutionalisation. We deliver professional, culturally sensitive and confidential research, reunion and cultural wellbeing services.
We provide our service in a sensitive, confidential and culturally appropriate manner and use all available resources to assist those looking to find their family.
The role:
****Link-Up (Qld) focus on the reunification of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults with their families and communities and to support eligible survivors to apply to the Territories Stolen Generations Redress Scheme. Our key focus is to undertake family history research and facilitate family reunions; provide information about the impacts of past removal policies to the whole of the community; establish networks and referral services appropriate to clients’ needs; and work in partnership with key stakeholders.
This role is part of a highly motivated team to establish and deliver reunification, counselling and support services across Queensland.
This is a full-time position based in our Cairns office. Travel is a requirement of this role.
This is an identified position, and it is essential that the successful applicant is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. This is a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991.
Essential Selection Criteria:
Must have Caseworker experience.
Demonstrated understanding of the history and impacts of the forcible removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, and knowledge of the social and emotional wellbeing needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Demonstrated knowledge of the Territories Stolen Generations Redress Scheme and client eligibility for the Scheme.
Demonstrated written communication skills and an ability to engage effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Demonstrated experience in working with individuals where complex trauma has been experience.
Ability to cultivate productive working relationships and build partnerships to support and promote Link-Up (Qld) programs.
Demonstrated personal drive and integrity through high level professionalism, resilience, and self-awareness.
Ability to implement responsive, client-focused case management.
Demonstrated organisational and time management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
Work effectively as a member of a team.
Ability to establish, develop and maintain a network of diverse stakeholders to enhance service delivery and referral pathways for clients.
Demonstrated competence in the use of technology including internet, desktop applications and database packages.
Ability to provide outreach services and regular travel.
Willingness to undertake a National Police Check.
Eligible for Blue Card.
Must hold a current Open driver’s licence.
